TEA PARTY AT HOME
TEA PARTY AT HOME
We suggest mastering the original format of celebrations – a tea party. High quality tea, fine sweets, elegant tableware and décor will create a special atmosphere that will leave only the best memories.
Tea party at home: feast planning
A tea party is an unfamiliar format for our celebrations. Many people at once ask what is it – a tasting drink or some kind of special ritual?
We immediately reassure: with a long and strictly regulated Japanese ceremony, home tea parties have nothing in common. It is just an alternative way of celebrating.
With first-class tea, high-quality desserts and appropriate table decorations, a birthday party or a meeting of old friends will be remembered for a long time.
The European home of the tea-drinking tradition is Great Britain. High society would gather in the home of an aristocrat and engage in small talk while drinking tea. The event was called the Afternoon Tea.
Other classes also had their own tea parties. Such events were called High Tea. Such tea-drinking events were not marked by refinement or elegance of presentation. Moreover, the table was filled with simple foods – cheese, crackers and bread.
The modern tea party at home also had a number of traditions. In particular:
There is advance notice of the planned event so that guests can adjust their plans.
Those taking part in a tea party at home are sent personal invitations. The best option is to have them handwritten. A tea bag can be attached to the card, which puts the guests in the right frame of mind.
A house tea party should be held in the afternoon.
This format suggests a minimum number of guests. Therefore, invite between one and five people.
Preparing for the event
To organize a tea party at home, you don’t have to make a huge effort. But you will need to take care of the availability of:
A good tea (of course, bagged versions are out of the question in this case), preferably several varieties;
A nice tea set with a big teapot. If you have several kinds of tea, prepare another teapot. You can use a modern glass teapot;
A tablecloth, linen napkins with beautiful patterns;
Suitable table decor, around the table, especially if the planned event is for a specific occasion;
Sweets – cupcakes, muffins, muffins, biscuits, cakes;
snacks. Of course, the table should be dominated by sweets, but a few hours of socializing guests will want to snack on something more serious. Therefore, make sandwiches in advance and decorate the dish nicely with cheese and meat slices.
Have a great homemade tea party!
